Celebrating 20 Years of Camp Sonshine

Twenty years of camp. Thousands of campers. Countless stories. One faithful God.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Camp Sonshine, and we want to celebrate with the people who have been part of the story!

Join us on Saturday, September 26 at 5:00 PM at Camp Sonshine – Solaris for Pancakes & Praise, a special evening of food, worship, memories, and gratitude for all God has done through Camp Sonshine over the past two decades.

We’re especially excited to welcome Bryan Olesen of VOTA and NBC’s The Voice, who will lead us in worship as we gather to celebrate and give thanks to God together.

20 Years of Belonging & Becoming

It’s hard to believe it has been 20 years since Camp Sonshine began.

What started with a vision to create a place where kids could experience the love of Jesus through the joy of camp has grown into something we could never have fully imagined. Over the years, thousands of campers have walked onto our properties. Hundreds of staff members have spent their summers pouring into kids. Families, volunteers, donors, alumni, churches, and friends have joined together to make camp possible.

And through every season, we’ve had the privilege of watching God work.

We’ve seen campers find a place to belong. We’ve watched young leaders discover who God created them to become. We’ve seen friendships form, lives change, faith grow, and people step out to serve God in their communities and around the world.

There is so much worth celebrating.

So… Why Pancakes?

If you’ve been around Camp Sonshine for a while, you may already know that pancakes have a little history around here.

For years, Saturday mornings at camp meant pancakes. After a full week of camp, our camper families and staff would gather around for a pancake breakfast—a chance to slow down, celebrate the week we had just experienced, share stories, laugh together, and thank God for all He had done.

So when we started dreaming about how to celebrate 20 years of Camp Sonshine, pancakes just felt right.

In many ways, Pancakes & Praise is one big Saturday morning celebration. Except this time, instead of celebrating one week of camp, we’re gathering around the table to celebrate 20 years of them.

We’ll share a pancake dinner, reconnect with old friends, remember some of our favorite moments, hear stories of God’s faithfulness, and worship together.

Just like those Saturday mornings, we want to pause before moving on to what’s next and recognize what God has done.

Only this time, we want the whole Camp Sonshine family around the table with us.

Celebrating the Past. Looking Toward the Future.

As much as this night is about remembering, it’s also about looking ahead.

We believe God is still writing the Camp Sonshine story. Our desire remains to create places where people BELONG & BECOME and to UNLOCK & UNLEASH Kingdom Builders who will carry the love of Jesus far beyond the boundaries of camp.

There are new campers to welcome, new leaders to invest in, new communities to reach, and new opportunities to follow wherever God leads.

We don’t know everything the next 20 years will hold, but we’re excited about what’s ahead.

And before we run toward what’s next, we want to stop and celebrate what He has already done.

You’re Part of the Story
