Camp Sonshine provides kids with a safe and positive place to BELONG. When a child feels secure in this type of environment, they are willing to venture out of their comfort zone in order to try new things and ultimately experience growth as they BECOME more of who they were created to be.
Camp Sonshine is building a new recreation facility and climbing wall in order to continue impacting kids with powerful and positive summer camp experiences.
The addition of this gym and climbing wall will provide kids with an indoor space to continue building friendships and connections on days when extreme weather makes it difficult to be outdoors. Groups will also enjoy the activity space for a variety of scheduled camp activities designed to build teamwork, foster comradery, and provide opportunities for personal growth. The addition of a 35-foot climbing wall will also provide a new and unique activity for campers to challenge themselves, work as a team, overcome fear, and grow in confidence.
The last couple of years have been difficult for many kids and teens. Fear, anxiety, and isolation have become all-too-familiar companions for many, which only serves to highlight the importance of programs like Camp Sonshine, where every person knows they belong. The completion of this facility and climbing wall are vital to fueling the ongoing expansion of the impact Camp Sonshine is having in our community.
