L.I.T. Program (7th-9th)

LIT stands for “Leader In Training” and this program is open to all students who will be entering 7th-9th grade in the fall of 2012.  Teens need to know that they are capable of making a positive difference in their world.  Camp Sonshine offers this great program for teens to not only learn valuable lessons on leadership, but to put those lessons into practice in a safe, fun environment.

In this program, LITs monitor and maintain group control, help create a safe environment for campers, and assist with activities while all the time getting to put their leadership skills into practice.  LITs will assist trained counselors with our K-4th grade groups or be assigned to help facilitate or lead one of a variety of activities.

Many Teens have used this type of leadership experience to put on applications to such organizations as the National Honor Society and various college & scholarship applications.

LIT Program Highlights (included in tuition):

  •  Extended Care – as needed
  • Practical Leadership Skills Training
  • One-on-One Adult Mentoring
  • Volunteer Service Hours
  • Friday Night Overnighter – LIT participation is highly encouraged

LIT Application Process:

Teens can be registered for the LIT program by a parent utilizing our regular Online Registration process.  In addition to the regular application, teens are asked to complete an LIT Application, submit 2 References, and sign the LIT Conduct Agreement Form.  The application process is designed to help teens think about their current views and beliefs concerning leadership, what their goals will be in regards to being an LIT, develop realistic expectations for the program, and to gain valuable skills and experiences that will be beneficial to them in completing future job applications.
