LIT stands for “Leader In Training” and this program is open to all students who will be entering 7th-9th grade in the fall of 2012. Teens need to know that they are capable of making a positive difference in their world. Camp Sonshine offers two great programs for teens to not only learn valuable lessons on leadership, but to put those lessons into practice in a safe, fun environment.
L.I.T. CAMP Program -
In this program, LITs monitor and maintain group control, help create a safe environment for campers, and assist with activities while all the time getting to put their leadership skills into practice. LITs will assist trained counselors with our K-4th grade groups.
Many Teens have used this type of leadership experience to put on applications to such organizations as the National Honor Society and various college & scholarship applications.
L.I.T. SHINE Program - (Available Sessions 2 & 5)
This program takes Leadership to new heights as our LITs hit the road to be Camp Sonshine’s ambassadors in the community. Through daily service projects arranged to help various ministries & community organizations throughout Lincoln, this group of LITs will experience the joy that comes from ”giving back” as they continue down their road of leadership training. Team development is another focus of this program, which will be enhanced during a full-day high-ropes course excursion, as well as an exciting overnight campout.
This program is only offered a couple of weeks (Sessions TBA) and all participants must have completed at least one sesson of Camp Sonshine’s L.I.T. CAMP program in order to participate.
