Explorer Camp (K-2nd)

For campers entering K-2nd grade in the fall, we cut no corners to give them the extra special care you want and they deserve. Our youngest campers’ safe and structured schedule includes go-karts*, archery, swimming, moonbounce, arts and crafts, water games, outdoor cooking and nature activities. In addition to an exciting line-up of camp activities, each Wednesday Campers will also participate in a different theme day each week. These have quickly become a favorite for the Explorer campers.

*Explorer campers will ride with their counselor who will be driving the go-kart.

Overnighters

Explorer campers have an optional Overnighter on Friday night of each session. Campers participate in special activities such as a specially planned all-camp activity, roasting marshmallows, cooking their own dinner over a fire, a special bonfire time they won’t want to miss, and camping out under the stars!

Families are invited to return to camp on Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M. to join their camper and the rest of the Camp Sonshine staff for our much anticipated End of Session Breakfast. After a fresh pancake breakfast and a few closing words from the directors, campers and their families will enjoy reliving the highlights of the week as they watch their Session Video.

Grouping

Explorer Campers will be grouped with campers of a similar age and typically the same gender. Explorer groups may be mixed gender when needed.  You may request up to 2 friends to be placed within the same group. We will do our best to honor these requests but can not make any guarantees.
