A Typical Day

Each day is guaranteed to be packed full of fun, adventure, friendships and plenty of opportunities for making memories.  Campers will start the day with our high-energy and upbeat large group Assembly time.  From here, campers will join with the the rest of their group for a day filled with interactive games, engaging team challenges and a creative assortment of innovative program activities.

After a little down time to eat lunch and swap stories from an adventurous morning groups will tackle an exciting afternoon schedule that may include water games, a hike into the woods, outdoor cooking over the fire, electives, or any number of organized large group activities.  Not only will your camper be tired, dirty and happy when they are picked up to go home for the night, but they will have made positive memoris and life-long friendships.

Lunch

Please send a sack lunch with your child to camp each day.  Lunch will not be provided and is not included in the cost of tuition.  Please send a nonperishable lunch as refrigerators are not available for camper use.

Overnighters

Held on Friday night of each session, overnighters give campers a chance to cook dinner out over a campfire, roast S’mores and to sleep out under the stars…or at least in a tent.  Some of the best memories of camp are made during the overnighter and is always a camper favorite.

Parents are also invited to join us on Saturday morning for a pancake breakfast, tour of the campgrounds, a chance to chat with many of the camp staff and for the viewing of the popular and much anticipated “End of Session Video.”

Extended Camp

Staff-supervised Extended Camp programs are offered both before and after the regular camp day.  This option is convenient for both working parents and those just needing some extra time.  It’s also the perfect solution for those campers who just can’t get enough camp.

Carpool List

If you would like to be placed on a carpool list to be e-mailed out the last week of May, please contact the office.  Please know that the interested families will make all the arrangement and that Camp Sonshine can not be responsible for arranging individual carpools.

Grouping

Each child will be placed in a group with approximately 8-11 other campers of similar age.  3rd – 6th grade groups will also be grouped by gender. K – 2nd grade groups may be mixed gender as needed. You may request up to 2 friends to be placed within the same group. We will do our best to honor these requests but can not make any guarantees.

Specific Summer Information

Once registered, you will receive a packet of information including our summer Parent Guide which will be sent in early May, along with the camp schedule for each of your campers.

Campers with Special Needs

Please contact the camp office if your camper has any specific needs such as hearing or visual impairments, learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical challenges, emotional concerns or special medical considerations.  A full understanding of your child’s specific needs is necessary for us to provide the best possible experience.  There may be some individuals that we are unable to accommodate because of specific needs beyond our scope of care.  Camp Sonshine encourages integration of campers with disabilities as is reasonable and appropriate.
