Thank you so much for expressing interest in becoming a host home this summer! Through this program, you will have the opportunity to have a powerful impact on the very heart and soul of Camp Sonshine, our counselors. Your counselors will work many long hours and will not have much free time away from camp and your home will provide a much needed place to rest and be refreshed each day.
Host Home Requirements
In order to best meet the needs of our counselors, and to ensure you have the best experience possible as a host home, we have some minimum requirements for consideration to be a host home. Our summer dates are May 28th through August 6th.
A host home must be able to accommodate at least 2 counselors of the same gender.
Counselors may share a room with each other but should have their own bed (additional beds provided by camp if needed).
Counselors should have a separate bedroom from other family members and a separate bathroom is preferred although is not required.
Most staff meals will be at camp, but counselors will also need a shelf for personal snacks as well as camp provided weekend food and breakfast items.
The Host Home Process
This form is not a commitment, nor a guarantee of a counselor placement, but is the first step indicating your interest in serving as a host home. The number of host homes needed will be determined by how many out of state staff members are recruited and ultimately hired. If you do meet the minimum requirements for a host home, and are interested in housing a couple of summer counselors, please complete the following form. Once this form is received, someone will be in touch with you.
